[Background]

Here and here.

[Personality]

Gray is laid-back, sarcastic, and rarely gets worked up unless it concerns his rival Natsu, with whom he regularly fights with both physically and verbally (although very deep down, they’re good friends). He gets serious easily enough though, and has stated that he won’t go easy on anyone who hurts the guild or his friends, even if they’re women or children. In general, Gray is fairly relaxed and amicable, keeping a cool and level head in most situations, but can come off as a bit cold and blunt at first, pun not intended. If a former enemy has changed their ways and they happen to team up, Gray has the capacity to forgive them and put aside their differences (even if it’s only temporarily) no matter their crimes, most likely a belief that extends to the entire guild.

Anger causes Gray to develop a calm sort of fury towards the source, at which point he’s likely to attempt to punch first and talk later, depending on the circumstances. Nothing means more to Gray than his friends and comrades at Fairy Tail and he is willing to give them everything he has, whether it be his life or otherwise. His loyalty to the guild, the members, and everything it stands for is unquestionable and he does not react well to opponents insulting his friends or the guild in any way.

When he was younger, Gray was extremely stubborn and reckless, having a single-minded focus on a goal and refusing to listen to anyone who argued with him, getting angry easily if they did. His current personality is the result of him becoming more cautious over time and his determination to change after seeing the trouble his previous personality caused for both himself and others around him. His ability to intensely focus only on a single goal is still there however, and has caught him off guard more than once.

In the Galuna Island arc where his past was revealed, it was apparent that Gray thought very little of his life at the time, as he attempted to use the deadly Iced Shell spell twice in order to save his friends. This was due to the guilt he felt for leaving his magic teacher, Ur, and going on to challenge the demon that had killed his family, emphasizing his younger self’s tendency to single-mindedly focus on revenge. Ur had sacrificed herself to save him and Gray lived with the guilt for ten years, essentially thinking that he had killed her. At the end of the arc, Gray has come to terms with his past and developed a more positive outlook on life. By the time of his current canon point, the Tenrou Island arc, Gray is not willing to use Iced Shell anymore, and states that he’ll do whatever he needs to in order to live with his friends.

Ur remains a constant role model in his life and it’s stated that in the future, one of his dreams is to take a student; a decision no doubt influenced by the effect Ur had on him. He is easily angered by anyone making slights against his former teacher and his past being brought up in general, becoming distracted and less likely to strategize about what he is doing. This can overlap with his focusing too much on one thing at a time, such as during a battle when he is lost in thought due to something his opponents say and not paying attention to their actions. On occasions, Gray can also be stubborn to a fault, such as a time when it was better to retreat than fight and he had to be talked down from continuing to fight.

In miscellaneous things, Gray has a habit of stripping anywhere and at any time, although he tends to do it more if he’s strained or under pressure. Or when it’s funny. Ur’s training is to blame for that, and he’s been subconsciously stripping for years, usually completely oblivious until someone else points it out. Despite this exhibitionist behavior, Gray is really modest around girls and his stripping habit is treated as a source of embarrassment for him. He generally gets embarrassed easily, becoming extremely flustered and apologizing a lot when faced with a compromising situation (such as when he faced a female water mage, Juvia Lockser, and accidentally grabbed her breast trying to attack her), although he’s apparently not above peeping on women in the bath. According to his guild profile, he has a weakness for a girl’s tears. He’s also rather oblivious to Juvia’s affections, as she fell in love with him after he defeated her, and only regards her as a comrade like any other guild member.

...This may or may not be relevant, but as of a chapter past his current canon point, it's revealed that he isn't as completely oblivious to Juvia's feelings as he seems to be (whether he reciprocates is another matter). Although it's debatable whether this is the case for his current in-game canon point.

[Specialties/Abilities]

Here and more in-depth about his magic in general.

For those who tl;dr, he uses ice magic and can make anything nonliving out of ice.

[Affection]

He's not a very touchy-feely person and gets embarrassed pretty easily at ~feelings~ and all that fun stuff. Expect either embarrassment or obliviousness depending.

[Fighting]

Case by case basis, but pretty much yes! Fighting and injuries is fine, although depending on the severity and anything about death, please discuss with me. He's pretty good at fighting, and while Gray doesn't generally start fights, he can be provoked into them pretty easily depending on who it is.

[Other Permissions]

Fourthwalling is fine as long it's kept to just "hey I think I read about you in a manga somewhere" and small things like that. Telepathy/soul reading is also fine.

[Other Facts]

He strips. All the time. Drop a note if it gets to be too much, haha.
